Medicaid
The Medicaid community was affected substantially by the COVID pandemic. In response, CareSource removed barriers for COVID-19 testing, and extended the length of pharmacy fills, claims filing and transportation services for our members. Meanwhile, for our providers, we distributed personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical frontline workers, deployed iPads for expanded telehealth visits and created an education series for care management employees.
On an even broader scale, we helped coordinate stakeholder communication strategies to battle the over-capacity of hospital Intensive Care Units. We targeted communication to high-risk groups and minorities, and also created a special outreach for members recently released from prison and trying to reintegrate during an era of social isolation.
Meanwhile, we focus on the social determinants of health that often affect our members’ well-being. In Indiana, for example, our Driver’s License Reinstatement Fund helps carefully-vetted Healthy Indiana Plan members obtain funds toward driver’s license reinstatement fines and fees. By helping our members overcome obstacles in transportation, employment and housing, we give them a better chance to live healthier and happier lives.
