Our Products

A Lifetime of Support

CareSource is a multi-state, multi-plan managed care organization that offers products and services for every stage of our members’ lives. Yet, throughout 2020, the lines between health care and holistic well-being often blurred in each of our health plans as we embraced opportunities to complement our members’ medical benefits with community resources ranging from job support to better housing.

Medicaid

Georgia, Indiana and Ohio
Health coverage for low-income people, families and children, pregnant women, the elderly, people with disabilities and those receiving home and community-based services (HCBS); Medicaid programs vary by state.

The Medicaid community was affected substantially by the COVID pandemic. In response, CareSource removed barriers for COVID-19 testing, and extended the length of pharmacy fills, claims filing and transportation services for our members. Meanwhile, for our providers, we distributed personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical frontline workers, deployed iPads for expanded telehealth visits and created an education series for care management employees.

On an even broader scale, we helped coordinate stakeholder communication strategies to battle the over-capacity of hospital Intensive Care Units. We targeted communication to high-risk groups and minorities, and also created a special outreach for members recently released from prison and trying to reintegrate during an era of social isolation.

Meanwhile, we focus on the social determinants of health that often affect our members’ well-being. In Indiana, for example, our Driver’s License Reinstatement Fund helps carefully-vetted Healthy Indiana Plan members obtain funds toward driver’s license reinstatement fines and fees. By helping our members overcome obstacles in transportation, employment and housing, we give them a better chance to live healthier and happier lives.

Marketplace

Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia
Qualified Health Plans offered through the Health Insurance Marketplace providing low-cost comprehensive coverage for individuals and families.

As unemployment levels soared in 2020, our affordable Marketplace plans helped provide continuity of dependable health care during an otherwise uncertain era. At the same time, CareSource has been keenly aware that unemployment and underemployment can spur an entirely new series of challenges for our members. To that end, each CareSource Marketplace member has access to their own Case Manager who can help them overcome many socio-economic hurdles they may face in their life journey.

MyCare

Ohio
Primary, acute, behavioral health and long-term care services for those who are dual-eligible for Medicaid and Medicare.

In any typical year, CareSource MyCare Ohio Case Managers are responsible for providing comprehensive care for a complex population with multiple special needs. Of course, 2020 was far from typical. Now, a care team that thrived on intensive person-to-person contact needed to adapt to a distanced environment – one that was putting up new walls that we had worked so hard previously to tear down.

Our MyCare Ohio members are especially affected by social determinants of health. That’s why we continue to make every effort to meet our members where they are. Window visits and phone calls would help them navigate their complex ecosystem of care. As our members’ needs increased four-fold with new restrictions, CareSource dedicated our efforts to maximizing their experience – providing education to alleviate fears and support to help build confidence.

Medicare Advantage/D-SNP

Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio
Plans that provide all of the Medicare benefits for doctors and hospital coverage (Parts A & B), combined with Medicare prescription drug benefits (Part D). In addition, our Dual Special Needs plan is built for people who qualify for Medicare Parts A & B and full Medicaid benefits.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, persons aged 65 and older have comprised 45% of all COVID hospitalizations in the United States. The same age group accounts for 8 out of 10 COVID deaths. Unquestionably, the health risk to older Americans has been the most troubling.

Throughout the pandemic, our CareSource Medicare Advantage plans have provided both health care stability and peace of mind for thousands of seniors. In addition, our Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP) has given invaluable support for our most vulnerable and underserved members.
