CareSource Foundation Strengthens Social Safety Net

As CareSource continues to prioritize social determinants of health within the health care of our members, the CareSource Foundation® continues to invest in the initiatives and organizations that support their whole health as well as the communities in which they live. Traditionally, our Foundation has funded programs focused on:

  • economic stability
  • safe, healthy homes and neighborhoods
  • access to health care, including physical, mental and behavioral health
  • early childhood education and child development
  • healthy behaviors and lifestyle concerns
  • public policy surrounding critical-need health issues

However, given the unprecedented circumstances of the last year, we pivoted our charitable resources to address immediate needs: supporting frontline health care workers, funding community safety net programs, and providing economic relief to small businesses in our local markets. We also continued to build partnerships with like-minded organizations that share our goal of creating healthier communities.

In early 2021, the CareSource Foundation further refined our focus to address care gaps and drive quality.

As we move forward in the future, the Foundation will strive to:

  • Improve health equity, health outcomes and health literacy in communities where CareSource members reside.
  • Create vibrant communities where people want to live, work and play, attract top talent, drive economic growth and help residents lead healthy lives.
  • Support innovative programs and initiatives that can expand our mission at the national level.

The year-end numbers confirm 2020 was a year unlike any other in our history, and the CareSource Foundation stepped up where our communities needed help the most. We’re proud of the support we provide our communities as we continue our quest to reimagine health insurance.

“While the CareSource Foundation has always provided responsive grants to nonprofit organizations that impact the social determinants of health, the pandemic transformed how we collaborate with partners to provide immediate relief for our members and our communities when and where they need it most.”
