At CareSource, it happens every day. What starts as a simple moment of kindness can fundamentally change a member’s life. When our legally blind Medicare Advantage DSNP member Jenelle asked for assistance navigating a catalog to purchase a few over-the-counter health supplies, her CareSource Case Manager Brenda was happy to oblige. But in the conversation that followed, Brenda saw other more vital needs that could be addressed.
Working with a representative at Jenelle’s health care provider, Brenda arranged to purchase a new magnifier so she could better read her mail independently. Then, she educated Jenelle about an unused transportation benefit that could provide bus transportation to and from appointments. Finally, they worked together to arrange 90-day refills on Jenelle’s prescription drugs. In one phone call, Brenda addressed a number of Jenelle’s health care concerns, reduced her burden of finding reliable transportation and helped her develop a reliable plan to adhere to her prescription medication. And it all started with a simple moment of kindness.
